Masala oats is a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack option that can be made quickly and easily. Here's a simple recipe with some tips and tricks to make the perfect masala oats:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 glasses water
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup green chopped capsicum
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
- 1/2 cup chopped carrot
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 inch chopped ginger
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp magi masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan and add onion, green chili, and chopped garlic. Saute for 2-3 minutes until the onions become translucent, not golden brown.
- Add tomato and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes become soft.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and magi masala powder. Mix well and cook for a minute so that all spices infuse into the mixture.
- Add rolled oats and mix well. Cook for a minute.
- Add water and salt. Mix well and let it cook for 3-4 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the oats become soft and the water is absorbed.
- Garnish your prepared oats with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips and Tricks:
- Use rolled oats inspite of instant oats for a better texture and flavor.
- Use fresh spices and herbs for better taste.
- You can add vegetables like, carrots to make it more nutritious and colorful.
- You can add a pinch of garam masala for extra flavor according to your choice.
- Adjust the spice level as per your taste preference.
- Don't overcook the oats, or they will turn mushy.
- You can make the masala mixture in advance and store it in the fridge for a quick breakfast or snack option.
