Potato-Semolina Snacks Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 chopped green chilies
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 2 tsp refined oil (for hands)
  • 2 grated potatoes
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Sauce for serving

Instructions:

  1. Warm up 2 teaspoons of oil in a pan on medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chopped green chilies, black pepper, and chili flakes. Cook until the spices give off their fragrance.
  3. Pour in 2 cups of water and add salt to taste. Let the mixture to be boil.
  4. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and gradually add 1 cup of semolina, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Mix well until the semolina absorbs the water and forms a thick mixture.
  6. Switch off the stove and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  7. Apply 2 tsp of refined oil on your hands to prevent sticking, and then add grated potatoes and fresh coriander leaves to the semolina mixture. Combine everything thoroughly.
  8. Now, take a portion and shape it into rolls. Cut the rolls into desired shapes for frying.
  9. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a pan for deep frying.
  10. Carefully fry these snacks until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  11. Remove the snacks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  12. Serve the potato-semolina snacks hot with your favorite sauce.
