  1. Prepare Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl or parat, take all-purpose flour.
    • Add carom seeds, salt to taste, 4 tablespoons of refined oil, and a pinch of baking powder.
    • Mix all the ingredients well.
    • Gradually add water to make a dough with a consistency similar to puri dough.Now, leave your dough covered for the next 10 minutes.
  2. Shape and Cut:

    • Divide the dough into small balls.
    • Roll each ball into a flat disc.
    • Using a knife, cut the flattened dough into desired shapes (traditionally diamond-shaped).
  3. Fry:

    • Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, carefully add the shaped dough pieces into the oil.
    • Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy completely.
    • Remove the fried mathris using a slotted spoon and place them on absorbent paper to drain excess oil.
  4. Season:

    • Optionally, sprinkle chaat masala over the fried mathris for added flavor and spiciness.
  5. Serve:

    • Mathris are ready to be served.
    • Enjoy them during tea time, breakfast, or whenever you crave a light and crispy snack.
