Homemade Bhature Recipe: How to Make in Punjabi Style

Bhature Recipe

Hello friends! Today in Daily Food Kitchen, we are going to share with you the recipe for making Punjabi-Style Bhature without yeast powder. However, Bhature are truly incomplete without Chole, so as you know, we had previously shared the recipe for 'Amritsar-Style Chole' with you. If you're visiting our blog for the first time, no worries, we've provided a link to this recipe at the bottom, so you can read and learn to make it from there.

So, why delay? Let's start making 'Punjabi Style Bhature'!

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

Required Ingredients:

Preparing Bhature Dough:

    Adding Water

  • Mix all necessary ingredients together well. Now add 3/4 cup of water gradually.
  • Kneading Dough

  • Knead until you get a sticky and soft dough for better results.
  • Applying oil

  • Apply two tablespoons of oil over the dough.
  • Beating and Tossing Dough

  • Beat and toss the dough until its stickiness disappears and it becomes smooth. This process may take around 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Applying Additional oil

  • After beating the dough, apply some oil on its surface to retain moisture.
  • Rest the Dough

  • Cover it with a lid and let it rest for at least 2 hours so that the fermentation process takes place very well.

Making Dough Balls:

  • After resting properly, you will notice that the dough becomes soft and pliable.
  • Now divide the whole dough into 8 to 10 equal-sized balls.
  • Using Greased Tray

  • Put these dough balls on a tray greased with oil.
  • Maintaining Moisture

  • To maintain their moisture, further apply oil on the surface of each dough ball.
  • Rest the Dough Balls

  • Cover these balls with a moist clean cloth and let them rest for about 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Giving rest at this stage is essential as it helps shape the bhature easily.

Roll the Bhature:

  • Take a dough ball and put it on a flat platform.
  • Rolling Without Dry Flour

  • Without any dry flour on the flat platform, press it with your hand so that it roughly turns into a circular shape.
  • Then roll it with a rolling pin and try to give it a thick, even oval shape, just like a rolled paratha.
  • Make sure the other dough balls remain covered.

Frying Bhature:

  • Take a larger-sized Kadai filled with not too much oil, filled only up to the bottom part of the Kadai.
  • Using High flame

  • Heat the oil until it reaches about 180 degrees Celsius since we have to fry bhature over high flame.
  • Slide the Bhatura

  • Now gently slide this bhatura into the hot oil with the surface that was facing up while rolling facing down in the oil.
  • Appearing Bubbles

  • Gently press with a spatula; you will notice bubbles start appearing.
  • Flipping Bhatura

  • Carefully turn it with the spatula.
  • Splashing Oil

  • Splash oil on the surface of the bhatura; when the hot oil comes in contact with its surface, it immediately inflates like a balloon.
  • Crispy and Golden Brown Bhatura

  • Carefully fry until it becomes crispy and golden brown.
  • Now take out your bhatura from the Kadai.
  • Repeat this same process for the remaining dough balls to complete the whole process.
